Week 36: May 15-19, 2023
Week 36 Message: Good evening families. There are a lot of great things happening this week at JPB.
Tuesday, May 16
- You’re invited to the 4th and 5th grade Motown Musical. Guests may choose to attend the 8:30 am dress rehearsal or the main event at 6:00 pm.
Wednesday, May 17
- All library books are due.
- Kindergarten will host a Pops with Pops event during lunch and recess. Contact your child’s teachers for specific times.
- 2nd and 3rd grade QUEST students will display their projects for families and guests at 1:15 pm in our cafeteria.
- PTO is sponsoring the last 9-week nibbles for JPB faculty and staff. Thank you to the families who have signed up to send in items.
Thursday, May 18
- 5th grade students will participate in D.A.R.E. graduation and an end of the year cookout beginning at 8:30 am. Families are invited to attend the ceremony in the cafeteria this morning.
Friday, May 19
- 3rd grade students will have their end of the year field trip to Mill Creek Park. Families are invited to meet their student at the park.
- 4th grade students will have their end-of-the-year cookout at JPB beginning at 10:00 am. Parents are invited to attend.
- 4th and 5th grade QUEST students will display their projects for families and guests at 1:15 pm in our cafeteria.

Week 35 Message: May 8-12, 2023
Week 35 Message: Good evening families. Here are this week’s reminders.
This week is Educators Appreciation Week. PTO has planned some special treats for our outstanding faculty and staff. Please contact them if you would like to help.
Honors Night will be held on Tuesday at SHS. The ceremony will begin at 6 pm. Invitations were sent home last week with students who are receiving awards at this event. Students are asked to arrive at 5:15 so they can be seated.
All 4th and 5th grade students who are participating in the musical should plan to stay after school for practice on Thursday, May 11 until 4 pm. Parents should pick up students in the car rider lanes. Let Mrs. Vickery know if you have any questions.
This Friday at 8:30 am our kindergarten students will be hosting their annual Mother’s Day Spa. We hope to see you there!
Friday is the last day to check out library books for this school year. All books are due on May 17.

Week 34: May 1-5, 2023
Week 34 Message:
Honors Night invitations will be sent home with students who are receiving awards on Monday, May 1. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 6 pm in the Statesboro High School Auditorium.
Our 5th grade students will take the Science GMAS on Monday, May 1. Please make sure your student arrives by 7:45 am on this day.
It’s time for Field Day! PK-2nd grade students will participate on Thursday, May 4 and 3rd-5th students will participate on Friday, May 5. Concessions will be sold during the event. Items are 1.00 each. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle with their name on it and to wear closed-toed shoes. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend. You must bring your photo i.d. and check in at the front office upon arrival to receive a visitor badge. Field Day begins at 8:30 am and ends at 11:30 am.
BCS is hosting free Summer Learning Academies for current K-5 students. The academy will be held Monday-Friday from May 31-June 30 from 8am-12pm. Transportation is provided. You must register your child by Friday, May 5. The registration link is found on the BCS and JPB websites.
Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year opens on Monday, May 1. All registration should be completed online. If you need assistance, please give us a call.

Week 33: Message: Good evening families. Here are this week’s reminders.
GMAS testing continues this week for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. They will take Math Section 1 GMAS on Tuesday and Math Section 2 GMAS on Wednesday. The final day of GMAS testing is Monday, May 1.
Thank you for getting your students to school on time each day. Attendance has been fantastic! We hope to continue this trend. Student prize drawings for GMAS perfect attendance will occur on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.
Please mark your calendar for the field day. Parents are invited to join their children for this event after checking in at the office. PK-2nd grade students will have field day on Thursday, May 4 and 3rd-5th grade students will have field day on Friday, May 5.

Week 32: April 17-21, 2023
Week 32 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.
Please plan to join us for the last PTO meeting of the year on Monday, April 17th at 5:30 pm. This meeting will be held in the JPB Media Center.
GMAS testing starts on Wednesday, April 19th for our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Please make sure your student has a good night’s sleep and arrives at school by 7:45 a.m. each day. All students with perfect attendance during testing will be entered into a drawing for various prizes thanks to our generous community sponsors: Forest Heights Pharmacy, Deal’s Heating and Air, Christian Social Ministries, Bulloch County Sherriff’s Office D.A.R.E. Program, and the Statesboro Police Department. We also want to thank many of our JPB families who donated staff prizes and additional testing snacks. The testing schedule can be found on our school website and Facebook page.

Week 31: April 10-14, 2023
Week 31 Memo: Good evening. We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful break and holiday! Here are this week’s reminders.
We are excited to announce that our QUEST book drive was a huge success. The students exceeded their goal and collected 1055 books. Thank you to all families who contributed.
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will participate in mock EOG assessments on the morning of Monday, April 10th. Please make sure your student arrives at school by 7:45 am. The first day of GMAS testing will be on Wednesday, April 19.
Letters of encouragement information were sent home with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students prior to Spring Break. Please return your letter to your student’s teacher on Monday, April 10th. If you have any questions, contact your child’s teacher.
Mark your calendar for our end-of-year PTO meeting. This will take place on Monday, April 17 at 5:30 pm in our Media Center.
We tend to use lots of tissues during this time of year. If any families would like to donate tissues to be used in our classrooms, we would gladly accept these donations in our front office to distribute to the teachers in need.

Week 28: March 13-17, 2023
Week 28 Message:
Spring and class pictures will be taken this week for students. PK, 1st, 3rd, & 5th grade students will take their pictures on Wednesday, March 15. PIP, Kindergarten, 2nd, & 4th grade students will take their pictures on Thursday, March 16. There are no make-up days for spring pictures.
School is closed on Monday, March 13 for students. This is an in-service day for teachers.
There will be an evening pre-k registration event held at the BOE on Monday, March 13 from 4:30-7:00 pm. In order for your child to be included in the pre-k lottery, registration and required documents must be received by Friday, March 17. The JPB pre-k lottery will be held online on Friday, March 31 at 10 am. The link can be found on the district’s website.
Let’s wish our 5th grade math team lots of luck as they compete in the 40th Annual Penny Sikes Math Tournament on Saturday, March 18. We know they will do great!

Week 27 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.
We want to extend a BIG thank you to our PTO members, sponsors, volunteers, and families for making this year’s Spring Fling a huge success! Your hard work and dedication made this a fun and exciting event for our entire school community. Thank you!
Our QUEST students are hosting a book drive for literacy month. Students will be collecting books from 7:20-8:00 am the week of March 27-31 in the front lobby of the school. Please consider donating new or gently used books that will be used for the Bulloch County Book Bus and the JPB Book Vending Machine.
Our pre-k and PIP students will be celebrating Farm Day on Thursday, March 9. Contact your child’s teacher for more information.
Please check your child’s Thursday folder for information about Class and Spring Pictures. They will take place on Wednesday, March 15 for PK, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade classes and Thursday, March 16 for PIP, K, 2nd, and 4th grade classes.
There will be no school for students on Monday, March 13. This is a teacher in-service day.

Week 26 Message: Good evening. Here are this week’s reminders.
Congratulations to our 3rd and 4th grade math teams! They did a wonderful job at this weekend’s Reggie Dawson Math Tournament. We are proud of our students and their coaches.
Spring Fling is this Friday from 5:30-8:30 pm. You can purchase presale wristbands through Tuesday for a discounted price. They will be available for purchase at the event at regular cost. This is a fun time for the entire family. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Our school will be celebrating literacy during the month of March. Our QUEST students will be hosting a book drive. They are collecting new or gently used elementary-aged books that will be used for our book vending machine and the Bulloch County Book Bus. There will be a table at Spring Fling where you can drop off your books or you can bring them to school the week of March 27. We will have a special reading day on Friday, March 31. Please stay tuned for more details.

Week 25 Message: Good evening. I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break! Here are this week’s reminders.
Our morning car rider procedures have changed. We will only use one lane in the morning instead of two to ensure our students safety.
Plan to join us for STEM Night this Tuesday from 5:30-7:00pm. We have lots of great activities for our families to participate in and the book fair will be open for business as well.
The “Reading is Out of this World” book fair is here! Students can shop during designated times during the school day or families can shop together before school from 7:20-8:00 am.
Book Fair Dress Down Days for this week are:
Monday-Reading Makes Us Brighter (wear neon colors)
Tuesday-Reading is “Out of this World” (dress as a scientists, astronaut, or space related character-no masks)
Wednesday-Black Hole Day (wear all black)
